The summer slow down is just about over. I've been hard at work on my first book, so it's been a perfect time for it to be happening. Only a few pieces of note for August, a pair of galleries and a rumored reunion of a legendary rock and roll band. Check it out after... Continue Reading →
Whew...it's HOT. That's why we gotta keep this thing going. No slowing down. Move forward to the coolness, beat the heat. The so called dog days of summer keep everyone on alert to find something new, even when there isn't much. Just as guilty on this end. What went down is after this jump... Foreigner,... It was 1994 and the majority of my musical diet consisted of mostly everything my grandparents wouldn't be into. If it didn't involve a pit, encouragement to jump on and launch myself off a stage in a concert setting, I was likely spinning it less regularly. The songs that would emanate from my upstairs bedroom... Continue Reading →
As of today, my new Twitter handle is @mickchrysalis. This puts the final nail in the Black Branch Moonlight/BlackBranchMC social media casket I've been using for years. My annual trip there begins with the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, coverage of which can be found after the jump. There were also some anniversary pieces for both Diffuser and Loudwire. Getting right down to it... The beginning... Continue Reading →
Getting to this a bit late as the annual jaunt to Iceland bugged up the end of October going into November. We'll be back on schedule - hopefully - come the end of this month. But who knows! Between the horrific shooting in Las Vegas and the death of Tom Petty, it hasn't been a... Continue Reading →
September allegedly kicks off the fall around these parts, so I decided to deliver my first "MC News Repository." This is where I'll provide links to articles of note for each particular month. It'll be a good place to catch up on what I've been working on for a variety of publications. This was a... Continue Reading →
Chris Cornell died. I didn't know him...but it still hurt.
I've long been into by New Order, mainly because they have two things I find attractive in a band; they make engrossing music which happens to span and combine wildly different genres (at the time of their release), and they have a fascinating backstory. The incredibly abbreviated history is: Three guys who were in a... Continue Reading →
