We're already short today due to Daylight Saving Time, so let's get into this week's Sunday Groove. It comes from Massive Attack and their groundbreaking 1991 trip hop masterpiece Blue Lines. The song is "Daydreaming," the first single for the record which came out in October of 1990. Original video and audio from the 2012... Continue Reading →
Welcome to the inaugural edition of Sunday Groove. I'll be looking to deliver a song recommendation around this time on a regular basis to end the weekend on a [somewhat] chill note. Nothing too raucous here, just something for the background whilst you make an omelette for your lover, read the New York Times to... Continue Reading →
As of today, my new Twitter handle is @mickchrysalis. This puts the final nail in the Black Branch Moonlight/BlackBranchMC social media casket I've been using for years. I stopped feeling it long ago and kept with it out of habit, waiting to redo it with something that fit...better I suppose. So where did this one... Continue Reading →
Best of the year in music. Otherwise known as "Blah Blah Blah...Another Best of the Year in Music." I'd really love to claim that this list is different than every other one out there, but the one thing I can say is it's the one I came up with for 2017. Playlist and a short... Continue Reading →

My annual trip there begins with the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, coverage of which can be found after the jump. There were also some anniversary pieces for both Diffuser and Loudwire. Getting right down to it... The beginning... Continue Reading →
Getting to this a bit late as the annual jaunt to Iceland bugged up the end of October going into November. We'll be back on schedule - hopefully - come the end of this month. But who knows! Between the horrific shooting in Las Vegas and the death of Tom Petty, it hasn't been a... Continue Reading →
September allegedly kicks off the fall around these parts, so I decided to deliver my first "MC News Repository." This is where I'll provide links to articles of note for each particular month. It'll be a good place to catch up on what I've been working on for a variety of publications. This was a... Continue Reading →
One of the descriptors of this blog is, "Skulls." It's meant kind of tongue in cheek but kind of not. I get asked all the time, "What's the deal with you and skulls?" The answer is a pretty simple one. Basically, the skulls I have around and tattooed on me are a reminder of how... Continue Reading →
Chris Cornell died. I didn't know him...but it still hurt.
