When it came to double – and triple – crossing, lots of sex and bizarre subplots, there really was nothing better than mid-80s late night soap operas. Dynasty, Falcon Crest and, of course, the crown jewel in Dallas were all comfort food for the brain that was oh so good to indulge.
It was Dallas which really tested the patience and believability in 1986 when it was revealed that the entire season had been a dream and Bobby Ewing – played by Patrick Duffy – wasn’t dead after all. Just a few years earlier, the show captivated the nation with the “Who Shot J.R.?” cliffhanger, but now seemed to be grasping at straws.
Over at Ultimate Classic Rock, I delved into the madness of the whole season, how it transpired and what led to Bobby returning to the show. Check out the piece here.
