One of the tours I’ve been most amped about for 2023 so far is the co-headlining run of The Charlatans and RIDE. Both are two of my favorites from the early-90s UK music scene, and each are currently on the road performing one of their albums in its entirety. For RIDE it’s the 1990 shoegaze watermark Nowhere while The Charlatans are pulling out 1992’s Between 10th and 11th.
It was exciting then to sit down with The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess to do a Vanyaland 617 (Six Questions, One Recommendation and Seven Somethings) ahead of the trek. Checking in via Zoom from his home in London, Burgess talked about the decision to do the album in full, what LPs he’d personally like to see played in their entirety and then we got into a discussion about Transcendental Meditation.
You can read the 617 over at Vanyaland, and below watch the video for one of the songs that makes Between 10th and 11th so great.
