Following two years of having to cancel due to the ongoing pandemic, Boston Calling made a triumphant return over Memorial Day Weekend, but it wasn’t without its hiccups…or straight up coughing fits. The Strokes had to bail out as the second night’s headliner, only to be replaced by Nine Inch Nails, who had already killed it with a set the previous evening. Weather on the second day was also a factor, with incoming thunderstorms causing the grounds to be evacuated in the early afternoon.
Still, Boston Calling soldiered on, with the likes of Metallica, Cheap Trick, The Struts, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Glass Animals, and Run the Jewels keeping the top of the bill solid with sets from KennyHoopla, Black Pumas, Cults, Japanese Breakfast, Orville Peck and more finding new fans.
